Although I am an Asian, but I have some special affection for italian cuisine, and so do my kids. We can eat pizza, pasta, etc almost everyday. Oregano, mixed herbs, italian seasoning, pizza sauce and other sauces are must have ingredients in our kitchen. Pizza sauce is our favorite, I use it as a base of many pasta dishes. Making pizza is so convenient if you already have prepared pizza sauce. I almost always have pizza sauce in my freezer which I use not only in pizza but also in pasta, sandwiches, parathas, omelette or salad etc.
Ingredients:
- 2 medium onions
- 2 medium tomatoes
- 4-5 cloves of garlic
- 1/4 cup tomato ketchup
- 2 tsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp red crushed chillies (or as per taste)
- 1 tsp salt (or as required)
- 1 tsp crushed black peppers
- 2 tsp oregano leaves
- 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
- 2 tbsp oil
Method:
- Put roughly chopped tomatoes and onions in a sauce pan with few drops of water, close the lid and cook at very low flame for 10-15 minutes. Cool it down then blend.
- Saute finely chopped garlic in oil until it releases its aroma.
- Add tomatoes and onion paste and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the remaining ingredients and cook until the sauce starts leaving the pan.
- If you want a little chunky pizza sauce then it is ready for you, but if you like it more smooth then you have to blend it one more time.
- Cool down the sauce before topping it on your pizza. Or you can store in an air tight jar in refrigerator for upto 10 days, or you can freeze it for a longer use (I would recommend to freeze in an ice cubes tray so you can use it conveniently later on.
