Karelay Recipe | Bitter gourd Recipe

Well bitter gourd is obviously a bitter vegetable and not everyone likes it, but it can be so tasty if you make it in a good way.



Ingredients:
  • 250 gm bitter gourd (karela)
  • 1 large onion (sliced)
  • 1 large tomato (small cubes)
  • 1 medium raw/unripe mango/kairi (cut in thin julienne)
  • salt
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp crushed red chillies
  • 2 tsp crushed coriander seeds
  • 6-8 green chillies cut in half
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • coriander leaves for garnish
Method:
  • Peel and deseed the bitter gourd and rub salt on it and leave it for 5-10 minutes.
  • Now fry the bitter gourd until it turns golden.
  • Take out bitter gourd from oil and add tomatoes in oil.
  • Cook for few minutes when tomatoes are tender then add salt (put salt carefully because we've already rubbed salt on it), pepper, crushed chillies and crushed coriander, onion and fried bitter gourd.
  • Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
  • Dish out and garnish with coriander leaves.
